Evan Longoria (R): Scored a two-run homer in the third inning
The Tampa Bay Rays will face the Cleveland Reds in Tuesday night's American League Wildcard game after claiming a 5-2 victory over the Texas Rangers in their tie-breaker.
The two teams had finished level after the end of the regular season but it was the Rays who avenged two previous play-off defeats to the Rangers to advance.
David Price pitched all nine innings without relief and Evan Longoria hit two-run homer and batted in another as Tampa led all the way.
Wil Myers scored in the opening inning before Longoria's home run batted Desmond Jennings in to give the Rays a three-run lead.
Ian Kinsler's single closed the gap to two before Longoria scored to open the gap once more. Alex Rios then batted in Elvis Andrus but Tampa completed the scoring in the ninth.
