Jazz Carlin and Joe Roebuck both wrapped up a hat-trick of victories on the final day of the British Gas International Meet 2013 in Leeds.

Carlin added the 400 metres freestyle to the 800m and 1,500m she had already won, while fellow Brit Roebuck took the 200m individual medley title to complement his 100m and 200m butterfly double.

Hannah Miley took an early lead in the 400m but Welshwoman Carlin took over at the head of the field with 100m to go and cruised away to win in 4 minutes 7.14 seconds.

Carlin said: "I'm really happy with that. It was always going to be tough after the 1500m yesterday but I just said to my coach that I wanted to give it a go and to come away with gold is fantastic.

"The 400m is my favourite event but my coach thinks I may be better suited to the 800m and 1500m so we'll need to have a sit down before June (World Championship trials) and discuss which to prioritise for the trials."

Roebuck, meanwhile, led from start to finish to win the 200m individual medley in 2:00.04.

He said: "It was a really tough race tonight but I enjoyed being up against such a high-calibre field. I enjoy the 200m more (than the 400m medley) so I will be focusing on that for the rest of the season and will continue to work hard on my sprint speed in training."

His Bath ITC team-mate Lizzie Simmonds won the 200m backstroke, holding off youngster Lauren Quigley in 2:10.25.

Liam Tancock finished second behind Dutchman Bastiaan Lijesen in the 50m backstroke, in which the Loughborough swimmer is both world champion and world record holder.

Grant Turner was the first domestic swimmer home in the 100m freestyle in 50.33 in a race won by American Anthony Ervin.

Alys Thomas finished second behind Dane Jeanette Ottesen Gray in the 100m butterfly and Kathryn Johnstone was the first Briton home in a 50m breaststroke won by Ruta Meilutyte.
