Dwain Chambers: Did not look fit as he was eliminated at European Indoors
Great Britain sprinter Dwain Chambers was eliminated in the first round of the 60 metres at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Gothenburg.
The 34-year-old, who has been struggling with a back problem which forced him to miss the trials in February, looked well below full fitness at the Scandinavium Arena.
He came home fifth in his heat, clocking 6.78 seconds, which is well below his season's best of 6.58s and was not even good enough for a fastest loser spot.
A visibly upset Chambers stormed off track afterwards but fellow Britons Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and James Dasaolu were in better spirits after progressing with ease.
"It was a season's best and I am going to take it lower than that. I have not focused on indoors and only started to do some speed work. I've trained with Dwain the last two weeks which was good," Aikines-Aryeetey said.
