Andre Myhrer of Sweden made a winning start to the World Cup slalom season at Levi in Finland.

Myhrer edged home by six hundredths of a second, with Marcel Hirscher's scorching second run not quite enough to grab the victory.

Hirscher clocked 55.48 seconds, the second fastest second run after Reinfried Herbst's 55.15sec, for a total time of one minute 49.61 seconds.

However, Myhrer's 55.69sec was enough for a two-run total of 1:49.55 and a 100-point haul.

Jens Byggmark, another Swede, was third, with Herbst sixth behind Italians Manfred Moelgg and Patrick Thaler.

Having won the season-opening giant slalom in Soelden, Ted Ligety finished tied for 13th to drop to third in the overall standings behind Hirscher and Moelgg.
