The Chicago White Sox were 11-4 winners against Minnesota in the American League as Adam Dunn crushed his Majors-leading 30th homer.

The score, a game-tying two-run shot in the seventh, set up a nine-run outburst over their final two at-bats. Dunn (3-for-5) and Paul Konerko (4-for-4) each finished a triple shy of the cycle as Josh Willingham homered twice in defeat.

Oakland were 7-2 winners against Toronto as Travis Blackley fanned a career-high eight batters in seven innings.

Derek Norris' two-run jack set an early tone as the A's won their sixth straight.

Yoenis Cespedes also aided a five-run seventh that iced it, while Travis Snider and J.P. Arencibia homered in the loss.

Brooks Conrad gave the Tampa Bay Rays a lead in the fifth inning with his two-run homer before Jeremy Hellickson and the Tampa Bay bullpen did the rest for a 3-1 win over Baltimore.

Hellickson allowed one run on just three hits in 6 1/3 innings. O's starter Wei-Yin Chen was solid, allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings.

Boston beat Texas 2-1, Cleveland edged out Detroit 3-2, Kansas City defeated Los Angeles Angels 4-1 and Seattle were 4-2 winners over New York Yankees.

Strong

The St Louis Cardinals ended an eight-game losing streak to the Los Angeles Dodgers as Adam Wainwright threw 7 1/3 strong innings.

Wainwright added two RBIs as LA's Clayton Kershaw gave up eight earned runs, including six in the sixth inning of this National League fixture.

Cincinnati defeated Houston 4-2 as Drew Stubbs tagged Francisco Cordero, in his first Astros save chance, with a decisive homer in the ninth.

Xavier Paul had three hits in his first Reds start to back Mike Leake (8 IP). Justin Maxwell hit a two-run homer for Houston.

Washington beat New York Mets 5-2 after Adam LaRoche's two-run homer keyed a four-run Washington sixth to end a pitchers' duel between Gio Gonzalez and R.A. Dickey which was tied at that point.

That gave Gio more than enough support as he two-hit the Mets for seven innings in his 13th win of the year.

Atlanta defeated Miami 4-3, Philadelphia edged Milwaukee 7-6, the Chicago Cubs were 5-1 winners over Pittsburgh, Arizona were 6-2 winners over Colorado and San Francisco edged San Diego 3-2.
