The Oakland Athletics snapped the New York Yankees' three-game winning streak with a 4-3 victory on Thursday night.

In other AL action on Thursday, the Detroit Tigers were 5-1 winners against the Los Angeles Angels, the Seattle Mariners overcame the Kansas City Royals 6-1 and the Baltimore Orioles edged the Minnesota Twins 4-3.

Homers

The New York Mets ended their six-game skid with a 9-5 success against the National League East-leading Washington Nationals.

David Wright had two homers and five RBI to help RA Dickey become the NL's first 13-game winner.

NL Central-leading Cincinnati overturned a six-run deficit to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-6.

Brandon Phillips smashed a three-run homer in the sixth for the Reds before doubling in the tying runs and scoring the winner in the seventh.

Elsewhere in the NL, the West-leading San Francisco Giants had their five-game winning run halted by a 3-2 loss against the Braves in Atlanta, the Chicago Cubs defeated the Miami Marlins 4-2 and the San Diego Padres toppled the Houston Astros 1-0.
