Intrepid cricket reporter Dominic Cork swapped the slips for the slopes to try snowboarding for the very first time on this week's Get Involved.

The former England all-rounder has enjoyed skiing for 10 years but decided to swap two planks for one to find out if he has what it takes to carve out a new hobby.

We caught up with Dominic at the Hemel Hempstead snow centre for his first ever training session - proof that you don't have to leave the country to take part in the sport.

Click on the video above to find out how he fares on the training slope as his instructor teaches him the basics from strapping on his bindings to executing simple toe-to-heel turns - as well as starting and stopping!

A private snowboard lesson can cost around £100 but if you are willing to join up with a group, a session can cost around £40 depending on whether it's a weekday or a weekend.

Although Dominic isn't quite ready to go on the main slope yet, it's clear that he'll jump at the next opportunity to go boarding.

Speaking after his session, he said: "I loved it - I absolutely loved it. I would definitely do it again - it's just that adrenalin rush that I know skiing gives you but for some reason snowboarding gives you that little bit more."
