Touch The Eden justified favouritism for champion trainer Willie Mullins and jockey Paul Townend in the feature Hugh McMahon Memorial Novice Chase at Limerick.

The seven-year-old was a 2-1 market-leader having got off the mark over fences at third time of asking at Navan at the start of the month and was up with the pace throughout this three-mile test.

Townend eased his mount into the lead as he rounded the home turn for the final time and although Folsom Blue, Letter Of Credit and Domination all travelled well, none were able to land a telling blow.

Touch Of Eden extended his advantage after jumping the second last and popped over the final obstacle to take the Grade Two prize by two and a half lengths.

Letter Of Credit came home best of the rest.

Townend said: "He got his own way and he was able to make most of the running, which helped. I was a bit surprised he handled the heavy ground as well as he did. He is what he is, but he's a nice horse and a staying chaser."
