England Netball have confirmed that national team captain Pamela Cookey will miss the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with an injury sustained during the Netball Superleague Grand Final day.

The Team Bath attacker suffered an injury to her Achilles during her side's 3rd/4th place play-off against Hertfordshire Mavericks and scans have confirmed the news that she will not be fit to lead England in Scotland this summer.

Cookey, 29, having been a surprise inclusion in the squad as a 17-year-old, missed the chance to compete at the 2002 Commonwealth Games because of a knee injury before making her senior debut in 2004 against Australia.

She has won Commonwealth bronze medals in 2006 and 2010.
