The 2014 ZEO Netball Superleague season barely pauses for breath as we once again head full throttle into another round of action.
In Round 2, four sides will be looking to continue their 100 per cent start to the season but at least one of these will come to an end when early pace setters Yorkshire Jets welcome Surrey Storm on Friday night.
The Friday action gets underway in the south-west though, as Team Bath host Manchester Thunder in what will undoubtedly be a frenetic contest. It's live on Sky Sports 2 from 7.30pm so make sure you don't miss it!
Team Bath's coach Jess Thirlby will be hoping that her side can continue their fine start to the season with an improved performance against their always dangerous visitors. On the other bench, Tracey Neville will want Thunder to pick themselves up following a hard-fought home defeat last time out.
The attention then switches to Leeds as the Jets look to build on a hugely impressive opening win to retain their lead at the summit of the table. They face a Storm side in buoyant mood as the Guildford-based franchise secured a fantastic away victory in Manchester last week.
Despite being on their travels again, Storm player-coach Tamsin Greenway will be confident that her side can again deliver another electrifying performance while Anna Carter will believe that her side's strong defensive display can be repeated to keep the team from Yorkshire flying high.
Saturday offers a chance for Team Northumbria and Celtic Dragons to get off the mark at the second attempt. There will be plenty of Celtic passion on display as the heavy Irish contingent in the Northumbria ranks attempt to get one over on their counterparts from Wales.
A sobering defeat for each side in the opening round will have them looking for instant redemption and it is sure to be a feisty encounter in Newcastle. A 600-mile round trip for The Green Army will serve as inspiration for Melissa Hyndman to ensure that her side shake off an early season defeat and get back on track to make a second Grand Final in a row.
Round 2 comes to a close on Saturday night with Hertfordshire Mavericks making the journey north to take on Loughborough Lightning. The visitors were winners in Round 1 as the new signings instantly gelled and were able to see them home in an agonisingly tight contest against the Dragons.
It was a tough opening for Lightning as they struggled against Jets in front of their home fans but with a clutch of new faces and a new coaching team, the hosts are expected to improve as the season progresses and with another week of training under their belts, expect a sterner test for the travelling Mavericks this weekend.
