Jonny May has signed a new long-term contract with Gloucester.

The England wing follows Matt Kvesic in committing his future to the Premiership club in what a club statement calls "another powerful endorsement of Gloucester's ambitions going forward."

May has scored 45 tries in 94 games since graduating from the Kingsholm academy, and he said: "I'm absolutely delighted. It's the club I've grown up with, it's my home and I've got great friends here. I love playing for Gloucester.

"I'm really happy with how things are looking here, we've got some great players and look like retaining a core group going forward. All our new coaches have been really impressive and, for me, it's a great place to be at the moment. We look like a team for the future, we're building all the time.

"I couldn't wait to put pen to paper, it was a simple decision. I was out of contract at the end of season but, looking at how things are shaping up with the new coaches and players, I couldn't be happier."

Director of rugby David Humphreys said: "Jonny is another one of our brightest young talents, the sort of player that we are looking to build our team around over the next few seasons.

"The last couple of years have, understandably given his form and international recognition, seen his profile rise considerably so we're delighted that he sees Gloucester as the right place to continue to develop his career.

"It's been a good week for us, with firstly Matt and now Jonny agreeing terms. They can see where we want to take the club and it's great to have them on board."
