Salford Red Devils centre Jason Walton has committed his future to the Super League club by signing a new three-year contract.

The 24-year-old began his career with Salford before going to play for the Batley Bulldogs, along with current team-mate Greg Johnson.

"The fact that we are not only showing we are capable of holding on to our bright prospects, but also convincing them that this is the place to be to further their careers, shows that we are going about things the right way."

Walton’s decision to sign comes fewer than 24 hours after Jordan and Adam Walne, Josh Griffin and Greg Johnson all extended their stays at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Head coach Iestyn Harris believes the Red Devils are proving their long-term ambition by securing emerging talent on lengthy contracts while also demonstrating to the players that Salford is the place to be.

“The fact that we are not only showing we are capable of holding on to our bright prospects, but also convincing them that this is the place to be to further their careers, shows that we are going about things the right way,” Harris told the club’s official website.

“Mixing this blend of young, fresh talent and world class experience that we are putting together next season is something that should certainly excite our supporters, and further underline the commitment Marwan Koukash has to make Salford Red Devils one of the forces in the game.”
