Costa Rica assistant manager Paulo Wanchope says there is no pressure on his country ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Costa Rica are considered outsiders to progress through to the knockout stages after being drawn in World Cup Group D along with England, Italy and Uruguay.

And Wanchope insists his players are relishing the prospect of taking on three sides that have all won the World Cup.

"We knew that it was going to be a hard group but being a group with three former World Cup winners is something big," Wanchope told Sky Sports News.

"But we will give it a try - the pressure is on the other three teams and our players are looking forward to that challenge during the summer."

Costa Rica face Uruguay in their opening World Cup fixture on June 14 before playing Italy on June 20 followed by England on June 24.

Sky Sports News presenter Jim White told Wanchope that on his recent trip to Uruguay he witnessed a widespread feeling of happiness and relief that they were facing Costa Rica.

The former Derby County and Manchester City striker says that suits his country right down to the ground and insists they will be ready for the game in Fortaleza.

"It's good that they feel like that and as I said before the pressure is on them. We have good players, great talents and I think they are looking forward to playing in that game."
