Brendan Rodgers: Not planning major changes to his squad in January

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed he will not make wholesale changes to his squad during the January transfer window, but will try to bolster his striking options.

Rodgers is widely thought to be in the market for a new striker when the transfer window reopens in January, with the Reds short of attacking options.

Liverpool failed to bring in a replacement for Andy Carroll during the summer transfer window and, with Fabio Borini injured, Luis Suarez is the only recognised senior striker available to Rodgers.

Rodgers admits the club were keen to recoup some money during the summer by offloading a number of top earners, but he hopes to bring in some new faces in January to bolster his squad for the second half of the campaign.

"We'll look to do something in the January transfer window, though. There's not going to be wholesale changes in terms of players coming in, that's the reality of where the club is at."

"We're looking to do business in the striking department in January," said Rodgers.

"The reality is that there was always going to be a bit of movement this season with the club trying to regain some of their money. This season was always going to be difficult.

"We'll look to do something in the January transfer window, though. There's not going to be wholesale changes in terms of players coming in, that's the reality of where the club is at.

"We're looking to grow over the next six months, we'll get some reinforcements in January and that will support the group who have been magnificent for me so far.

"Hopefully in the summer we can build again."
