Lewis apologises over Twitter
Having already broken his rather more significant ties to McLaren, Lewis Hamilton has conceded "maybe twitter is not the one for me" after his embarrassing midweek u-turn on the social media website.
Within hours of accusing McLaren team-mate Jenson Button of 'disrespect' for unfollowing him on twitter, Hamilton was then forced into reverse gear after learning that Button had never followed his account in the first place.
Hamilton also caused a storm before September's Belgian GP by tweeting sensitive telemetry information in the wake of his qualifying defeat to Button and, appearing in front of a media scrum on Thursday in Korea, has now admitted that his latest gaffe might yet prompt him to leave the site.
"I think in my life I am going to make lots of mistakes and that was one of them," the Mercedes-bound driver told Sky Sports News. "But you learn from your mistakes and maybe twitter is not the one for me.
"It wasn't the best of experiences and the best thing to do. I've put my hands up and apologised to Jenson."
For his part, Button has pleaded bemusement to the entire episode and the need to answer questions about why he had never followed his soon-to-be-ex-team-mate but added the twitter page of Sergio Perez to his list of approved accounts upon the news that the Mexican will replace Hamilton next season.
"There are millions of people to follow on Twitter," Jenson told reporters in the Yeongam paddock. "I see him [Hamilton] every weekend.
"I follow him [Perez] because I purposely wanted to say welcome. That's the only reason why I followed him. And now I can't unfollow him. I'm not allowed to do anything on Twitter these days.
"For me it's just amazing that we're sat here talking about this, here at a grand prix."
