England forward Gareth Hock is set to return to training with Wigan three months ahead of the end of his drugs ban.
The 27-year-old second row is currently serving a two-year suspension for testing positive for cocaine in 2009.
And although Hock is unable to return to playing the end of the ban on June 23, he has been cleared by the Rugby Football League to train once again with Wigan.
In a statement, the RFL said: "Following consultation with legal counsel and UK Anti-Doping, the RFL has been advised that a return to club training by Gareth Hock, under the auspices of Engage Super League club Wigan Warriors, is consistent with the RFL's Anti-Doping Rules.
"Hock will remain ineligible to play matches or be paid as a player until the completion of his two-year doping suspension on Thursday June 23.
"The RFL will be making no further comment on this matter."
Having initially been forced to sever all contact with the Warriors, Hock will now use the next three months to prove he is worth a new contract.
Hock, who has been working with a personal trainer during his suspension, will see his ban expire 24 hours before his club's home game against Huddersfield on June 24.
