Saints scrum-half to complete cross-code switch

St Helens scrum-half Kyle Eastmond has ended speculation over his future by confirming a cross-code switch to Bath. The 21-year-old, who came through the youth system at Saints, will complete the move at the end of the Super League season - with Bath seeing off competition from Sale for the England international's signature. And despite being criticised for his performances at the start of the new season, Eastmond insists he is determined to leave Saints on a high. Eastmond said: "St Helens have been fantastic with me since I joined them 10 years ago and I am deeply indebted to them for their amazing support. "I intend to give everything to the club, its supporters and my fellow players in my final season." St Helens coach Royce Simmons revealed that Eastmond broke the news of his departure to his team-mates on Monday. Simmons said: "He spoke to the players and told them he had made a decision, a tough decision for him to make. He has decided to go to Bath. "The players sat around and we talked about it. He guaranteed us he was going to give us 100 per cent for the rest of this season. "The players all shook his hand and congratulated him, he'd come clean and said what he was going to do. "That's been weighing on a young bloke's mind for a long time and we've got that out of the way now, we can carry on."
