Mark Hughes praised the performance of his Stoke City side but was left frustrated after a 2-2 draw at Queens Park Rangers.
Stoke opened the scoring through Mame Biram Diouf at Loftus Road, only for Steven Caulker to head in an equaliser before half-time.
Peter Crouch restored Stoke’s lead but QPR hit back for a second time as Niko Kranjcar’s late free-kick salvaged a draw and left Hughes upset that his men had not picked up all three points.
“It’s not a defeat but it is still disappointing for us because we didn’t take maximum points from the game, when really we should have done,” he told the club’s official website.
“In terms of our general performance and general play we were markedly the better side today and we should have gone on to have won the game relatively comfortably.
“Unfortunately for us, we weren’t able to navigate our way through crucial periods of the game, with the final few moments of each half being particularly decisive.
“You always expect the home team to come out strong early on, but we were able to manage that period, only to then let ourselves down a little bit at the end of the first and second half.
“That said, with the opportunities we created we should have been in a far more comfortable position going into the final stages of the game, which is frustrating for us.
“It is another point on the road for us, but the overriding feeling is that this was something of a missed opportunity for us.”
