Wigan Warriors head coach Shaun Wane says the team’s attitude was all wrong following their surprise defeat to relegated Bradford Bulls on Sunday.
The Warriors, who destroyed the Bulls 84-6 at home earlier in the campaign, slumped to a shock 16-8 loss at Odsal to hand James Lowes his first win as Bradford coach.
The defeat meant Wigan were unable to close the four-point gap on leaders St Helens with just five rounds of Super League remaining in 2014.
Wane admitted he was unable to sleep on Sunday night, citing a poor attitude as the primary reason for their poor showing - something the players concurred with.
“I didn’t sleep last night, I watched the game four times and did the review,” he told Sky Sports. “I’ve spoken with the players this morning and been quite honest with the players.
“The players have been honest with me back. They understand where we need to improve and make sure the mentality we had on Sunday never comes back.
“We’ve shown that we can play. We went with our attitude not bang on. It’s disappointing. We had the chance to win the game and we didn’t close it out.
“They quite rightly won the game. They were the best team, Bradford. They completed our sets better than us and they had 17 offloads so you can’t win games with poor discipline.”
