Yorkshire saw off Roses rival Lancashire by 47 runs in their Royal London One Day Cup opener, despite a superb century from Karl Brown at Old Trafford.

Batting first, Yorkshire posted an impressive 324-7 from their 50 overs with their top four, Adam Lyth (46), Alex Lees (66), Kane Williamson (70) and Andrew Gale (38), all making solid contributions and Tim Bresnan - who would go on to take two wickets - adding some late impetus with 32 from 18 balls.

After slumping to 57-3 in reply, Lancashire's hopes were pinned on Brown who hit nine fours and four sixes during a swashbuckling innings that kept his side in contention.

However, when he was bowled by Jack Brooks for 129 to leave his side 250-6, and needing a further 75 runs, the game was all but up for the hosts who were eventually bowled out for 277.

Derbyshire duo Wayne Madsen and Wes Durston both cracked centuries to inspire the Falcons to a thumping 136-run victory over Hampshire.
