Misa Eguchi's surprise run in the Baku Cup was ended by Bojana Jovanovski as the fifth seed clinched a 4-6 7-5 6-3 in their quarter-final clash.

The Japanese qualifier, who was playing in the main draw of a WTA Tour event for the first time, had looked set to continue her progress after winning the first set, but it was Jovanovski who eventually emerged triumphant.

The Serbian's semi-final opponent will be Switzerland's Stefanie Voegele, who beat Israeli Shahar Peer 6-2 2-6 6-4.

The other last-four contest will be between defending champion Elina Svitolina - a 6-4 6-4 victor over Pauline Parmentier of France - and former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone.
