Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais ended a 52-race losing streak in the first of two IndyCar Series races in Toronto on Sunday.

The opening race was carried over from Saturday due to heavy rain and Bourdais made the most of the dry morning conditions on the street course at Exhibition Place as he led for all but six of the 65 laps.

It was Bourdais' first victory since the 2007 Champ Car season finale in Mexico City, but the 32nd of his career, breaking him out of a tie with Paul Tracy and Dario Franchitti to put him in eighth place on the all-time victories list.

Brazilian duo Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan followed Bourdais home after the start of the race was marred by a multicar crash on the opening lap.

The rain returned for the second race in the afternoon and it was Englishman Mike Conway who made the most of the conditions to notch his second victory of the season.

Conway gambled on an early tyre change as the track started to dry, which enabled him to snatch the lead, and he then comfortably held off the challenge of Kanaan, with Australian Will Power taking third place.

There are now only four races remaining this season and Castroneves left Toronto at the top of the standings on 533 points with Penske team-mate Power just 13 points back and Indy 500 champion Ryan Hunter-Reay 69 adrift.
