Dublin are through to their third Leinster final in four years after a hard-fought 0-22 to 1-14 win over Wexford.

The defending Leinster champions fell behind early on at Wexford Park when Podge Poran found the net but a strong second quarter saw them lead by 0-11 to 1-6 at the interval.

Wexford levelled proceedings early in the second half but the Dubs replied with six unanswered points as man-of-the-match Conal Keaney came to the fore.

Dublin goalkeeper Alan Nolan made a number of vital saves to deny Wexford the second goal they craved, and although the Model County reduced the gap to three points with 10 minutes left, the Dubs replied with a trio of scores inside a hectic 60-second period to secure victory.

Anthony Daly’s side got off to a shaky start in front of a large crowd at Wexford Park, hitting three wides as the hosts took an early lead through points from Jack Guiney and Conor McDonald.

Alan McCrabbe grabbed Dublin’s opening three points before Keaney put them in front for the first time, but they were rocked on nine minutes when Doran grabbed the game’s only goal.

Nolan produced a good stop to deny McDonald but Doran lashed home the rebound, and a Paul Morris free put three points between the teams.

However, Wexford failed to build on Doran’s maximum, hitting a flurry of poor wides, and Dublin punished them by hitting four successive points to lead half time.

Doran was denied by Nolan moments after the restart as Paul Morris’ brace brought Wexford level, but Dublin registered six points in a row with Keaney grabbing three of them.

Morris and McCrabbe exchanged points from dead balls before Nolan saved again from Doran and Morris, and two fantastic long-range scores from half-back Michael Carton and another from Paul Ryan put the game beyond Wexford’s reach.

Scorers

Dublin: A McCrabbe 0-9 (6f), C Keaney 0-5, P Ryan 0-3, M Carton 0-2, C Cronin, J Boland 0-1 each.

Wexford: P Morris 0-6 (4f, 2 ’65), P Doran 1-1, C McDonald, L McGovern 0-2 each, J Guiney, D O’Keefe, L Chin 0-1 each.
