Hull FC coach Lee Radford was impressed with his team's performance as they crushed hosts Widnes 56-6.

After such a huge victory in the First Utility Super League, Radford said: "Credit to the players. We had a small lead at half time and then we go and do that.

"It was a great performance. We started the second half really well and they have responded excellently to what I've asked them.

"It's a tough place to come here and win. They are in form and have some great players but we got the job done well.

"It's massive for our confidence and we have come away with a clean bill of health. I've seen the confidence coming on and it showed again tonight."

Widnes boss Denis Betts said his side's display was unacceptable.

He said: "It was a very poor performance. The game is built on basics and we didn't do them well at all."

Widnes suffered injuries to players in their back line, most notably Stef Marsh - who was carried off on a stretcher after 20 minutes - and Chris Dean, who was concussed.

Betts acknowledged the injuries did not help his team's cause, adding: "That was a tough blow but all in all there's not a lot to say - it was a very disappointing performance and not like us.

"We've got a big week ahead now to put that right."
