Bath have signed full-back Luke Arscott from Exeter on a two-year contract.

The 29-year-old, who has been with the Chiefs for the last four years, had been linked with a return to his old club Bristol.

However, Bath have now stepped in to sign Arscott, who has developed into one of the leading full-backs in the Aviva Premiership in recent seasons.

Arscott is set to fill the vacancy at Bath created by Nick Abendanon's departure to French club Clermont Auvergne.

Bath head coach Mike Ford told his club's official website: "We are really pleased Luke is joining us.

"We had a gap in the squad for a more experienced out-and-out full-back, and Luke fits the bill perfectly. He's got all the attributes you'd expect, and he'll be a very good fit at the club."

Arscott said: "I'm very excited by the opportunity to join Bath, and I'm looking forward to linking up with the squad for pre-season.

"You can see how much they have developed this year, and the potential that is still there, so it will be great to be part of that going forward into the new season."
