Wakefield Wildcats have bolstered their options with the addition of Lee Gilmour on a one-month loan deal from Castleford Tigers.

The 36-year-old is yet to feature for the Tigers this term, but arrives at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium with a wealth of experience having made 246 appearances during a 17-year career.

The arrival of the former Great Britain international is a welcome one for Wildcats coach Richard Agar, who is without Dean Collis, Jimmy Keinhorst, Reece Lyne, Taulima Tautai and Ali Lauitiiti through injury, whilst Jacob Fairbank has completed his loan spell from Huddersfield Giants after limping off against Warrington Wolves.

He’s a player with a lot of big game experience and I know he’s bursting to play at the moment so will be an asset for us.

Agar also faces the prospect of being without Chris Annakin as he faces the RFL disciplinary panel on Tuesday evening to answer a grade D charge of a dangerous throw on Roy Asotasi.

“We’re pleased to get Lee in at a time when we’ve picked up a number of injuries,” said the Wildcats head coach.

“He’s a player with a lot of big game experience and I know he’s bursting to play at the moment so will be an asset for us.”

Gilmour, who has plied his trade at wing, centre and lock, will start training with his new team-mates on Wednesday and could make his debut against former employers Bradford on Sunday, with the Wildcats making the trip to Odsal to face their West Yorkshire rivals.

The Dewsbury-born utility man made 126 appearances for the Bulls between 2001 and 2003 as well as racking up centuries for Wigan Warriors and St Helens.

Agar will hope the arrival of Gilmour will provide the necessary inspiration to bounce back from successive defeats and make progress up the Super League ladder.
