Graeme Smith and Michael Clarke: Gearing up for series decider

South Africa captain Graeme Smith and his Australian counterpart Michael Clarke are looking forward to an exciting contest in the winner-takes-all third Test which begins in Cape Town on Saturday.

The Proteas won the second Test in Port Elizabeth by 231 runs to level the three-match series at 1-1.

Controversial comments made by Australia batsman David Warner - who suggested South Africa wicketkeeper AB de Villiers illegally altered the condition of the ball to induce reverse swing in that match - will add extra spice to the contest.

Both skippers are keen to focus on the game itself though, with the first two days of the Test already sold out.

"It's all set up for a cracking Test match, you can feel the vibe around Cape Town," said Smith.

"Most of the cricketing eyes of the world are going to be on this Test match. It's between two quality teams who play the game hard and that's what you want in Test cricket.

"It's an exciting opportunity for us over the next five days and one that I'm really looking forward to.

"It's been a challenging two weeks. A few obstacles have come our way and off the field there have been a few challenges personally as well.

A good space

"But I've had a good week of preparation personally and the team is in a good space."

Clarke paid tribute to the success enjoyed by his side in their recent Ashes demolition of England and he is relishing the chance to impress the cricketing world by winning their current series.

"We achieved everything we wanted through the Australian home summer," he said.

"I've said all along our greatest challenge is to have success overseas.

"To sit in the position we are at 1-1 going into the third Test against the number one team in the world in their own backyard is a great achievement.

"Now we've got an opportunity to win the series."

Watch the third Test between South Africa and Australia live on Sky Sports 2 HD from 8.25am on Saturday.
