Andrea Atzeni: Appealing against 10-day suspension
Andrea Atzeni has lodged an appeal with the British Horseracing Authority against the 10-day suspension he incurred at Kempton on Wednesday evening.
The stewards judged the rider guilty of continuing to race on a horse that appeared to have gone lame after he finished third, beaten nine and a half lengths, aboard Hurricane Harry in the Winners Are Welcome At Betdaq Maiden Stakes.
Following an inquiry, Atzeni is due to sidelined March 12-15 and 17-22, although he is contesting that decision.
The Professional Jockeys' Association tweeted: "@Atzenijockey has lodged an appeal with @BHAPressOffice against the 10 day suspension handed down by the stewards at Kempton last night."
