Charlton striker Reza Ghoochannejhad has revealed he is fulfilling his dream by playing in England.

The Iranian striker joined Chris Powell's club during the January transfer window from Standard Liege and has made two appearances but has not yet found the net.

The 26-year-old hopes that despite Charlton's lowly league position, they can use the FA Cup fifth round tie against Sheffield Wednesday as a positive distraction.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: "It's a boy's dream to play in England and also with Charlton, a good club where I will have good opportunities to play.

"That was a very important issue for me. I don't feel pressure. I'm here to help the other lads out. I'm one of them.

"It's going to take time to get used to each other - the players, the gaffer - and I hope that time's going to be given.

"The FA Cup can help, of course. If we can win it will be good for confidence and I'm excited about playing in it."

Ghoochannejhad insists he will not be distracted by the World Cup, where Iran will face Argentina, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Nigeria, and is concentrating on making sure Charlton rise up the division.

He added: "At this moment I'm only thinking about Charlton. When the World Cup comes, we'll see.

"The first thing we must do is make sure Charlton are safe. After that I can enjoy the World Cup because it's not something that is given to everybody."
