Sheffield Wednesday have signed 27-year-old striker Leon Best from Sky Bet Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers on an emergency loan deal.

The Republic of Ireland international, who spent two previous loan spells with the Owls, rejoins the club until March 12th.

Best joined Rovers from Newcastle United in July 2012 for £3million, but the forward missed much of last season through injury and has been unable to hold down a regular starting role since his return to full fitness.

The former Coventry man returns to the club following two previous loan stints in 2005 and is eligible to play in the Owls' FA Cup fifth round tie against Charlton Athletic at Hillsborough on Saturday.
