Alex Pearce: Reading defender cleared to play against QPR

Reading defender Alex Pearce will be available for Sunday's Sky Bet Championship match against QPR.

The centre-back has been cleared to play at Loftus Road after the Royals won their appeal against his red card in Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Pearce was sent off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity after just nine minutes for bringing down Benik Afobe in the penalty area.

But Reading boss Nigel Adkins was convinced Pearce was not the last man and that Kaspars Gorkss was covering his fellow defender.

The club contested the decision and the appeal was upheld at an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, with Pearce's one-match suspension withdrawn as a result.

Watch Reading take on QPR live on Sky Sports 1 HD on Sunday at 3.30pm.
