Celtic full-back Adam Matthews admits last week's Scottish Cup defeat has put more pressure on the team to go through the season unbeaten.

Aberdeen shocked the holders at Parkhead last Saturday and following Morton's League Cup victory - again at the home of the champions - earlier in the season, Neil Lennon's side are left to concentrate on a third successive league title.

The Hoops, who boast a 21-point lead at the top of the table, have won club record 13 games in a row and have not conceded a goal since Nial McGinn scored for Aberdeen back in November.

Now Welsh international Matthews is looking for Celtic to remain unbeaten in the final 14 games of the campaign to help erase the misery felt following last weekend's defeat.

"We are obviously disappointed," said Matthews, who returned from injury to play against Aberdeen. "We weren't happy with the way we played, we know we can play much better.

"But it's important we put that behind us and concentrate on keeping our run

going in the league. I think it's got more influence on our season now.

"Obviously we are out of both cups, which is very disappointing for us, especially the Scottish Cup as we won it last year and wanted to retain it.

"So I think it's very important to keep our run in the league going.

"We know it's going to get tougher every week because everyone is going to want to defeat us and break our run. So we have to be on top of our game. We can't have a performance like we did against Aberdeen."
