Ivica Olic: Hoping to secure a new deal at Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg striker Ivica Olic says he is hoping to secure a new contract with the Bundesliga club as his current deal expires at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old, who penned a two-year deal from Bayern Munich in 2012, has found the net eight times in his 19 Bundesliga games so far this season and has helped his side push for a European place.
Olic was linked with an exit during the January transfer, reportedly attracting interest from Fulham, West Ham and Lazio amongst others, but the Croatia international is keen on extending his stay at the Volkswagen Arena.
"I am enjoying it and I hope to also play for Vfl Wolfsburg next season," Olic told BILD.
"My agent is in touch with Klaus Allofs (Wolfsburg general manager) and they will start to discuss a contract now.
"In the end, we will all have to wait and see."
Meanwhile, general manager Klaus Allofs admitted that the club received a number of offers for midfielder Daniel Caligiuri during the January transfer window, but says that he was not prepared to allow the 26-year-old to leave.
"I am able to confirm several enquiries for the services of Daniel Caligiuri," he told kicker-Sportsmagazin.
"Daniel is a player of our first-team squad, he has a contract left at our club.
"We did not think about those transfer enquiries for too long. He is part of our future plans."
