Ludovic Obraniak: Delighted to have signed for Werder Bremen
Ludovic Obraniak has revealed that he was also interested in moving to England before deciding to join Werder Bremen from Bordeaux.
The Poland international made the move to Germany on Friday when an agreement was reached just before the transfer deadline.
He had considered other options and was tempted to pursue a career in the Premier League, having been linked to a couple of clubs.
However, Obraniak has no regrets over his choice and is relishing the prospect of playing in the Bundesliga.
"Bremen was the most attractive club," the 29-year-old midfielder told L'Equipe.
"I could have come back to Lille. I left the club in January 2012, a personal choice considering the time I had on the pitch.
"My departure from Bordeaux was sorted out at the last minute. Both clubs quickly found an agreement. I thought it would be more difficult to convince Les Girondins, but the chairman easily opened the door.
"Bremen is a famous club where a lot of big names have played, and I will discover the Bundesliga.
"To me, it was England or Germany, otherwise I would have stayed at Bordeaux.
"I wanted to discover a new culture, a league where you don't necessarily play to not lose. I wanted an attacking league.
"I thought I brought something to Bordeaux and I was efficient. We played in Europe twice and we won the Coupe de France. It is positive."
