Paris Saint-Germain defender Alex is determined to win a new contract with the Ligue 1 leaders.

The 31-year-old's current deal expires at the end of the current season but he has no intention of leaving the French capital.

"I am waiting for the end of the season to discuss it seriously with the directors," he said at a press conference reported by L'Equipe.

"I am working hard so that the club will take the best decision."

The Brazilian, who scored a well-taken second goal in PSG's win over Bordeaux on Friday, hopes his performances this season have kept him in the thoughts of national team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari ahead of this summer's World Cup in his homeland.

"I think if I can keep up my current form, there is still a chance I could be called up by the coach," he said. "While there remains a chance, I will continue to believe."
