Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk admits he will be stunned if team-mate Fraser Forster is not part of England's World Cup squad this summer.

Forster broke Celtic's 92-year clean-sheet league record with his 11th successive shut-out in Sunday's 1-0 home victory over St Mirren.

And the former Newcastle goalkeeper has set his sights on another two milestones over the next few weeks.

This Saturday's Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen affords him the chance to equal legendary Celtic keeper Charlie Shaw's record of 13 successive domestic clean-sheets which was set almost 100 years ago to the day.

Should he keep out the in-form Dons at Parkhead, Forster, known to Celtic fans as the 'Great Wall', will turn his attentions to Bobby Clark's league record of 1,155 minutes which the Aberdeen keeper set 44 years ago.

Forster, who was last beaten by Pittodrie midfielder Niall McGinn back in November, has 1,035 minutes to his name and his ultimate target is the 1,311 British record of former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

Speaking at a promotional event ahead of Saturday's game, Van Dijk, who has not given up hope of breaking into Holland's squad for Brazil, said: "Fraser is a phenomenal goalkeeper, one of the best in the world.

"Throughout this season he has shown he is a world-class goalkeeper and he has proved himself in the Champions League.

"I think he should go to the World Cup this summer and if I was the coach of England I would certainly put Fraser as my number one.

"However, I think the whole team should be proud of the record. The back four and Fraser have done a good job and we are very proud of that.

"It is not easy to be unbeaten for as many games as we have and hopefully we will be able to beat the record."

Check out if Forster can continue his record-breaking run when Celtic entertain Aberdeen this Saturday from 12.30pm live on Sky Sports 2
