Coventry have signed free agent Mark Marshall on a short-term contract until the summer.
The midfielder, 26, was given a two-year suspension in 2012 having failed a drugs test and was later released by Barnet at the end of the 2011/12 season. But Marshall is now cleared to play and ready to return to action, and he has caught the eye of Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley having trained with the League One club of late. Pressley told the club's official website: "From the period he has been training with the club he has very much impressed us, not only with his ability but his hunger as well. "He has had a lot of interest from other clubs so we are delighted that he has chosen to sign with us until the end of the season as it will give us a chance to fully assess him. "Mark's fitness is also very good so we expect him to challenge for a starting spot straight away." Marshall, who is available to make his Coventry debut in Wednesday's trip to Bristol City, appeared for the likes of Swindon and Hereford prior to his move to Barnet. Marshall said: "I'm delighted to join the club and I can't wait until that first moment when I get back on the pitch. "It is going to be an unbelievable feeling and hopefully I will be able to make an impact at the club." He added: "There was a few other clubs in for me but my ambitions can be realised at Coventry. When a club like this comes knocking, you can't turn it down. "With the size, the history and the fans, there wasn't a decision to be made."
