Phillippe Senderos has joined Valencia from Fulham on a permanent deal, according to Sky sources.

The Swiss centre-back, whose contract at Craven Cottage was due to expire at the end of the season, was a target for Italian club Lazio.

But he has opted to sign for La Liga side Valencia with just hours remaining before the transfer window was due to close.

Senderos has made 68 appearances for Fulham after joining the west London club from Everton in June 2010.

He has previously played for Arsenal and AC Milan and has 50 international caps for Switzerland.
