Worcester Wolves moved further clear at the top of the BBL Championship standings with an 89-85 win over Cheshire Phoenix, although they needed overtime to see off their mid-table opponents.

The two teams were locked at 80-80 at the end of regulation time but the Wolves scored the first six points of the extra five minutes and Cheshire could not fight their way back.

Will Creekmore poured in 26 points for the Wolves while his team-mate Alex Owumi contributed a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds as Worcester moved six points clear of Leicester Riders, albeit having played three more games.

Newcastle Eagles moved level with Leicester on 26 points after recording a comfortable 98-71 win over Plymouth University Raiders, while in Friday's other game Durham Wildcats thrashed fellow strugglers Surrey United 102-55.
