Bilel Mohsni: Opened scoring for Rangers

Goals from Bilel Mohsni and David Templeton secured a 2-0 win for Rangers against Forfar at Station Road to move 20 points clear at the top of Scottish League One.

But Ally McCoist's side were less than impressive and struggled to impose themselves on a side that knocked them out of the Scottish League Cup in the first round.

The home side went close to scoring after just three minutes when Stuart Malcolm headed onto the crossbar.

Rangers responded and went close when former Celtic goalkeeper Rab Douglas did well to keep out a dipping volley from Nicky Law.

The Light Blues had to wait until just before the break for another promising chance though, as Douglas pulled off a double save to deny Fraser Aird and then Mohsni.

Rangers improved in the second half, with Lee McCulloch seeing a free-kick come back off the crossbar.

McCoist's side had a penalty appeal turned down when Mark Baxter appeared to push Mohsni in the area.

But the opener finally arrived on 75 minutes, Mohsni climbing above Darren Dods to head in Aird's corner.

Steve Simonsen, deputising for Cammy Bell who was attending the birth of his baby daughter, pulled off a superb save after McCulloch almost directed a corner into his own net.

A second goal duly followed in the final minute of the contest when Templeton fired home from 18 yards.
