Everton manager Roberto Martinez is waiting for an assessment on Seamus Coleman after the defender was forced off in the 1-1 draw at West Brom.

Coleman has been an influential figure for Everton this season, but was replaced by John Stones on 79 minutes at The Hawthorns.

The Republic of Ireland international picked up a hamstring complaint and Martinez acknowledged the injury is a concern.

"Seamus felt his hamstring a little bit," Martinez told Sky Sports. "We will assess him, but it's not a good sign when that happens.

"It's important we give him a good 24 hours to assess him before we make any conclusions."

Kevin Mirallas had given Everton a first-half lead against West Brom before Diego Lugano's second-half header denied Martinez's side a place in the Premier League's top four.

Martinez added: "Obviously any point is a good point, but we're disappointed with the second-half performance.

"The hardest thing today was to get in front and score the goal, and we did that really well in the first half when I thought we were well in control.

"We knew that West Brom would try to change a little bit the way they've been playing and would press us high up, and I felt a couple of times we got good combination play which allowed us to be in really good positions in front of goal.

"In the second half, I must admit the condition of the pitch didn't allow us to get on the ball and control the game in the way we wanted, and it was unfortunate to concede the goal in the manner that we did."
