Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has urged everyone involved with the club to unite behind the same cause and turn their ailing Serie A season around.

The Nerazzurri lost 1-0 at Genoa on Sunday as Luca Antonelli's 83rd-minute header inflicted a third defeat in their last four games. Inter have won just once in their last seven matches and have scored just one goal in their last four.

Head coach Walter Mazzarri stressed the importance of thinking positively in the wake of the defeat and on Monday night Indonesian billionaire Thohir, who bought a majority stake in the club in October, broke his own silence to insist hard work and unity were required at San Siro.

He told inter.it: "As the president of Inter, I feel and understand the disappointment and frustration of our supporters around the world.

"Nobody is satisfied with our recent results and I am a fan as well as a president. I'm used to rolling up my sleeves and solving problems.

"This is a time of change for Inter. We have to work even harder and be united as a team.

"I trust in the work we're doing and I can't wait for us to build Inter's future together."

Inter are fifth in Serie A, 11 points behind Napoli, who are third and hold the last Champions League qualifying spot.

Following Sunday's defeat Inter's former Napoli boss Mazzarri said: "We didn't deserve to lose. This is a delicate time that will pass.

"The important thing is to have the right mentality because this is a year of transition for us.

"I want a team that always goes out on the pitch determined to win and we showed that against Genoa."

The Nerazzurri host bottom side Catania on Sunday.
