Tries for Fritz Lee, Gerhard Vosloo's double and Vincent Debaty's late score with four conversions by fly-half Mike Delany were enough to secure the win, with Maxime Machenaud scoring Racing's only points from a first-half penalty.
Clermont opened the scoring in the seventh minute when number eight Lee was bundled over, with Delany adding the extras.
The second try came after some fantastic play by Wesley Fofana, who came back inside and showed great power, before the ball was worked out to the wing where flanker Vosloo was on hand to slide over the soggy tryline.
Delany again converted to take the score to 14-0 with 25 minutes played, before Racing scrum-half Machenaud got his side's only points with a penalty five minutes before the break.
The excellent Fofana, who was a constant threat, had a try chalked off for crossing early in the second half, with Racing reduced to 13 men for a spell as Bernard le Roux and Dimitri Szarzewski were sent to the sin bin in separate incidents.
Le Roux returned but Racing then lost another man to the bin when Luc Ducalcon was shown yellow as the visitors' desperation to stop Clermont became increasingly apparent.
After more sustained pressure, Vosloo eventually scored for another Delany-converted try before Debaty's converted score made sure of the bonus point.
