Knee injury sidelines Mad Brian

Mad Brian is out for the season
Mad Brian has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury at Navan on Sunday.
The eight-year-old looked set to secure a second victory over fences in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Novice Chase, but parted company with Keith Donoghue at the final fence, gifting the race to Irish Thistle.
As if that was not frustrating enough, trainer Gillian Callaghan subsequently discovered her stable star had suffered an injury that will sideline him for the rest of the campaign.
Callaghan said: "It is very frustrating. If it was just losing the race, we could live with that, but unfortunately he won't run again this season.
"He looked to lose his action coming to the final fence and then he obviously unseated.
"After the race we found he'd broken a bone in the back of his knee, so obviously he's going to need some time off.
"He might have to have some keyhole surgery in about five weeks, but we'll just see how it goes.
"Fingers crossed we can get him back."
