Michael Jacobs: Set to join Wolves on permanent deal

Winger Michael Jacobs is set to complete a permanent move to Wolves from Derby County.

Jacobs has recently completed an impressive loan stint at Molineux, joining Wanderers in mid-November and making a total of nine appearances, scoring once.

Speculation was rife that Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett would look to extend his loan stay but a permanent move now appears on the cards.

The fee is likely to be undisclosed but it is understood it would be in the region of £200,000, with Jacobs penning a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Black Country club.

Jackett told Wolves' official website: "We haven't concluded anything yet but I am optimistic and I'm hopeful that we can take Michael permanently. We are trying to do that rather than extending the loan.

"That does reflect my confidence in him - in what he has done - and also what I think is a very bright future for a guy who is 22 years of age.

"I'm sure Derby are aware how well he has done and through Kevin Thelwell (head of football development and recruitment) we have been in constant touch.

"We're in a good situation as Derby have got a strong midfield with some outstanding young players.

"Michael has perhaps been unlucky there but that is to our advantage because he's shown the type of quality he has and what I want him to do now is build on that and go from strength to strength.

"He is the right age and has the right energy to be able to do that."

Jacobs has made 47 appearances for Derby since joining in the summer of 2012 from Northampton.
