Alex Scott signs long-term contract with Arsenal
England right-back Alex Scott has ended speculation over her future by penning a new long-term contract with Arsenal Ladies.
The Team GB defender's contract renewal comes the day after the club announced the arrival of England captain and former Arsenal player Casey Stoney from Notts County Ladies, formerly known as Lincoln Ladies.
Arsenal Ladies general manager Vic Akers hailed the England centurion's decision to prolong her stay with the club.
"It's great news for the club that Alex has decided to commit her future to Arsenal," Akers said. "She's a top player, and extremely experienced, so we're very pleased."
Scott added: "I'm very pleased to have agreed a new contact with Arsenal. I first joined the club when I was a teenager, so it feels like home to me.
"We've lost some players this pre-season, but we've signed some very capable ones too, so we're feeling good about the new campaign and can't wait for it to get underway."
Arsenal Ladies have seen a spate of departures since the end of last season with players including Kim Little, Steph Houghton, Gemma Davison and Ellen White all leaving the club in search of pastures new.
Scott's future had been shrouded in uncertainty after her contract expired at the end of last season and last month she told skysports.com that her future was still very much up in the air.
"Contract talks at the moment going on but it's just sitting down trying to figure out what's right for me," she said. "I'm just looking at different things really but I suppose that will all be sorted soon.
"I'm not a person that let's things stress me or bother me, I'm kind of whatever will happen, will happen. Whatever the decision will be, I will go with it at the time.
"I'm Arsenal through and through whether I'm at the club or whether I'm not, I'm Arsenal," she added. "It's like a second home to me, I've grown up there and it's played such a significant part in my life.
"I think it's just, especially at my age now, I am a more experienced player, I have to look at what's right for me so I will decide soon."
Meanwhile, Birmingham Ladies have completed the signing of Wales international striker Hannah Keryakoplis.
The 19-year-old spent three seasons at last year's FAWSL winners Liverpool prior to her move to Stoke in 2012.
