York have extended Luke O'Neill's loan spell after reaching agreement with the defender's parent club Burnley.

O'Neill, 22, who has featured on two occasions for Burnley's first team, will stay with the Minstermen until January 4.

The former Leicester trainee, who moved on to Burnley in the summer of 2012, has made six appearances for York since first arriving at the start of October and has also been played in midfield by City boss Nigel Worthington.

O'Neill scored his only goal for the Minstermen with a fine long-range strike in the recent draw at Chesterfield.
