Geoff Parling: England lock out of Australia clash
England second row Geoff Parling has been ruled out of Saturday's clash with Australia with concussion.
Parling was hurt during a contact session at the squad's Pennyhill Park training base on Tuesday afternoon.
The Leicester star, who impressed on the British & Irish Lions tour of Australia in the summer, will have to undergo the recommended graduated return to play protocol before rejoining training.
England head coach Stuart Lancaster said: "Geoff will be unavailable for Saturday's game but will stay in camp with a view to returning to training next week."
Parling had been competing for a starting spot with Wasps' Joe Launchbury and Northampton's Courtney Lawes. Launchbury and Lawes now look certain to be named in the starting XV - which Lancaster will name on Thursday.
Dave Attwood, only back from a rib injury last week, is in line to provide bench cover.
Northampton prop Alex Corbisiero is also out of the game with a knee injury but he is also expected to be available for the match with Argentina.
Watch England take on Australia this Saturday. Coverage starts on Sky 3D and Sky Sports 2 HD from 1:30pm.
