England's Chris Ashton hopes to find his international form again against Australia.

England winger Chris Ashton says he feels 'back to myself' and is raring to go if he is given the opportunity to face Australia this weekend.

The Saracens wing burst onto the international scene in 2010 in the Six Nations and was taken on England's summer tour to Australia, where he scored his first international try as Martin Johnson's side beat the Wallabies 21-20 in the second Test.

Ashton was then the hero when England beat Australia 35-18 at Twickenham in the 2010 autumn internationals, scoring a try in each half, the second a 90-metre dash to the line.

Following a dip in form in which Ashton feels he was trying too hard, he now feels he can once again make an impact like in 2010 if given the chance.

He told Sky Sports News: "I think if you feel more confident in yourself and a bit more relaxed with it, not trying so hard to make everything come off, it kind of has an opposite effect sometimes.

"If you feel relaxed and more involved in the game, those things will come automatically. Maybe I was putting a bit too much pressure and a bit too much effort in."

Step back

He added: "I think I had to take a step back with it and re-assess where I was at and what I needed to get right and the basic stuff that I needed to concentrate on and get better at.

"The (England) coaches here and the coaches at Saracens have helped me throughout getting through that.

"I just feel back to myself."

Regarding his form back in 2010 against Australia, he added: "It was the first time I went in (to the squad). We went away to Australia, managed to beat them away for the first time in a long time and then they came home to Twickenham and that was another good day, one I'll take on for years to come.

"It's something that people, the first thing they say really 'I was there that day' (when he scored his wonder try).

"But it does seem quite a while ago now for me. I hope I can get the chance to do it again on Saturday."

Watch England take on Australia this Saturday. Coverage starts on Sky 3D and Sky Sports 2 HD from 1:30pm.
