England batsman Eoin Morgan will play for Sydney Thunder in this winter's Big Bash League in Australia.

Dublin-born Morgan missed out on selection for England's Ashes squad and will be available for the Thunder's first four games of Australia's domestic Twenty20 tournament.

He will then join up with the England limited overs squad under the guidance of Ashley Giles.

Morgan will play alongside Australia opener David Warner and Mike Hussey in the Thunder squad.

"I am really excited about getting the opportunity to join the Sydney Thunder for this season's Big Bash," said Morgan.

"I have been a big admirer of the tournament and I'm looking forward to getting a chance to play in it and represent the Thunder.

"I have been impressed with the way that the club has recruited for this season and I know that everyone is focusing on a strong campaign."
